MY EXPERIENCE WITH MEDIA
From a young age, I was exposed to the fascinating world of visual media, and it wasn’t long before I realized that I wanted to pursue a career in the film industry. To me, films contain an element of magic - the ability to transport us to another time and place, to bring out emotions and alter perceptions.
As a creative individual, these are some of the aspects that attracted me to get involved in this industry. 'WHAT NOW?' PROJECT
January 2021 - February 2021
I worked in a group with 2 individuals who I had not met before to write, produce and edit a trailer. We were given a brief with specific instructions to follow to complete the task. This experience allowed me to improve my teamwork and communication skills. I also experienced completing media paperwork for the first time within this project.
INSIGNIFICANT LIFE - SHORT DOCUMENTARY
February 2021 - May 2021
For my Audio Visual Techniques module I had to write, direct and edit a 5 minute documentary on topic of my choice. I created a documentary revolving round the concept of the butterfly effect. I learnt a lot from this experience, mainly how scheduling is very important to be able to keep track and remain organised whilst producing a media project. I also really enjoyed working on this project as I was able to try out new things and develop my filmmaking skills further.
MULTIMEDIA NEWS STORY
May 2021 - June 2021
I created a multimedia news story revolving around the easing of COVID-19 restrictions in Scotland for my journalism module. I had to upload this video to my website and also show an online presence on social media by sharing it on platforms like Instagram. This was a fresh new experience for me as I had never done anything journalism related, so I am glad I was able to complete this and get new journalism skills along the way.
